Tekla – The Brightest Light

I’d been hearing rumours that a beautiful new female voice had emerged in Manchester, with a few unheralded live shows leaving close friends spellbound by her performances. Today is the first time I’ve heard this voice and I won’t be forgetting it. She probably doesn’t realise just how good she is, but Tekla Szerszynska is a star.

Its not unfair to compare her to someone like Serafina Steer, an artist I promoted right at the beginning of her career, and who is now critically acclaimed thanks to the release of her latest album ‘The Moths Are Real’. They are both nakedly themselves – and share that same ability to captivate you.

The Brightest Light is a sparse arrangement, driven by Tekla’s stunning vocal and heartfelt lyrics.
