Severe Girls – Ghosts

Severe Girls is the solo moniker of Andrew Neil Richardson. Having been a prominent drummer with several DIY and mainstream artists such as Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Aldous RH, Francis Lung and the foetals, Richardson makes his first emphatic creative footprints.

Having soaked up experience in relative obscurity, whilst building up his reputation locally, it should come as no surprise to manchester natives, Ghosts is a blissful and breathless rush. You can hear traces of other bands here, but Severe Girls is more of a hybrid than an idiosyncratic copy. Evoking the hazy nostalgic melodies of Bradford Cox’s Deerhunter, the wielding whirls of guitar fuzz, propell the song to dizzying heights.

Severe Girls’ debut album is forthcoming, recorded at LOW FOUR Studio in Manchester with engineer Jamie Birkett (gip).
